The 5 day Practical Day Skipper syllabus follows on from the shorebased course, turning your theory into practice. You will be working with other students, developing your skippering skills, organising and managing the preparation for sea, deck work, navigation, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, victualling, emergency situations, yacht handling under power, yacht handling under sail, passage making, night cruising. The aim is to develop Text Box: your skills to that you become a confident and competent skipper of a small sailing vessel in familiar waters by day

Aim: To have a level of competence in pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in waters with which the student has become familiar.

Pre-course experience 5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht

Assumed knowledge: Basic navigation and helmsmanship. It is recommended you attend the Day Skipper shorebased course prior to attending this course.

Certification: On successful completion, the award of a Day Skipper Practical Course Completion Certificate
